Biography
Isil Marceau is a composer born in Chicoutimi, in the province of Quebec. From the age of eight, she distinguished herself at the piano and, over the years, developed an aptitude for composition. Always seeking greater challenges, she was admitted to the Conservatoire de musique de Chicoutimi in 2003. During this training, she developed her own musical language, inspired by low textures and repeated motifs. It was during this period that she felt the desire to embody the sensory experience of sound through her own compositions.
In 2011, she began a bachelor’s degree in classical performance at the Université de Sherbrooke. After graduating in 2014, she devoted herself to teaching piano. It was only in 2023, when she joined the Équi Vox Estrie choir, that she took a new step: writing her own musical works, with the support of her musical director. In 2026, she finally published her first compositions, including Rouge Amoureuse, marking an important milestone in her singular artistic journey.
